After experiencing the benefits of virtual counseling services, Lacey Amos now offers therapy appointments to clients via a telehealth platform. Virtual counseling services offers Lacey Amos the ability to serve clients across the entire state of Alabama. Continuing education training events are conducted virtually and in-person. Supervision to Associate Licensed Counselors utilizes a hybrid of in-person and virtual services.

As an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), Lacey Amos offers professional counseling for individuals, couples and families. She began practicing professional counseling in 2006 and has worked with a diverse population of clients in a variety of settings. Mrs. Amos has experience working with clients on a wide variety of issues. Examples include depression, anxiety, stress management, self esteem, career issues, relationship/family issues, life transitions, grief and loss, and communication skills. Lacey Amos also offers professional premarital counseling and relationship enrichment utilizing the Prepare-Enrich Assessment.

 

Mrs. Amos obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. She received a Master of Arts in Community Counseling from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. Mrs. Amos completed internships at Southeastern Louisiana University Counseling Center, Medical Management Options Community Mental Health Center, and Greenbrier Behavioral Hospital as a graduate student intern. Mrs. Amos received an Education Specialist Certificate from Louisiana State University  with an emphasis in Psychopathology and Mental Health Counseling. Before beginning private practice, Mrs. Amos worked in the outpatient office of Dr. Kumari Moturu in Baton Rouge, LA, counseling children, adolescents, adults, senior adults, couples and families as part of a clinical treatment team that included a Psychiatrist, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

 

Mrs. Amos was raised outside of New Orleans in Mandeville, Louisiana where she attended Northlake Christian School. She fell in love with Birmingham while attending Samford University and was excited to relocate to the area with her husband and daughter in January of 2013. Mrs. Amos is excited to serve the mental health needs of the state of Alabama.

Mrs. Amos has experience providing counseling services in a variety of settings including inpatient, day treatment, and outpatient settings. Her approach to professional counseling considers the client's overall wellness including physical, spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional health. She uses primarily client centered and cognitive-behavioral theories as well as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapy to generate alternatives toward healthier functioning.
